'The Muppets' The Pig With the Froggy Tattoo Trailer

I haven't posted a trailer in a while, mostly because I've been swamped or there haven't been any that really deserve a spot on my blog (the most recent trailer for the farce vampire/teen angst francise installment being a prime example).  However, this one was particularly funny - especially if you've seen what it takes its inspiration from.  I'm not clammoring to see the film, but it does look like it might be kind of fun.

Weigh To Go: Week 5 Recap, Week 6 Plan

Well, since the regular dietician is apparently still on vacay, we have a fill-in today, and let me tell you, she is just exciting.  Sarcasm? *Cue “Big Bang Theory” interlude*
Leonard: “…Sheldon, do I have to hold up a sarcasm sign every time I open my mouth?”
Sheldon (intrigued): “You have a sarcasm sign?”
So, while she drones on about buying fresh fruits and veggies in her beaming monotone voice, let’s recap.  As I’m sure you’re well aware, I had a bit of an epiphany last week, so we won’t be reviewing that little matter.  However, I did cave a couple times last week.  There was Taco Bell Tuesday, of course, but that won’t be happening for the next two weeks since my enabler, Laura, is out of town.  However, there was an additional quest to the amazing place that serves delicacies inspired by cuisine south of the border Wednesday night after a near epic stretch of overtime.  Since I didn’t get a chance to cook Wednesday night as I had planned, there was also a cave to eating out the rest of the week, since work consumed my life.  Now, I didn’t do awful at lunch.  Both Thursday and Friday I got salads from Price Chopper – granted, they were the large salads, with a little pasta salad and crab salad on the side, but I had fat-free dressings both days.  Yes, I will do just about anything to justify my actions.  As for eating out in the evenings, there was Max’s (a gyro, [amazing] tots, and Coke zero) Wednesday night, pizza from Waldo Pizza (three slices of meat-lovers, two supreme, and a cold slice of pepperoni later plus some Dr. Pepper) Thursday night, and then a nigh ultimate cave of a foot-long The Experience (chicken, pepperoni, bacon, cream cheese, and jalapenos) from Planet Sub Friday night.  So, yes, last week could have been much better on the eating front.  The weekend wasn’t too bad.  There was one trip to the aforementioned locale Saturday evening, but everything else over the weekend was home-cooked goodies (though in larger quantities).
On the exercise front, I didn’t do too badly.  I walked almost every day at lunch like I wanted to.  I didn’t do the full 10 minutes Thursday and Friday since it was quite hot (like 97 degrees).  Additionally, if I got the chance to watch a Netflix flick, I walked the return envelope to the mailbox instead of driving (save one occurrence).  I was swamped at work Thursday, so I didn’t get a chance to walk to Bible Study, like I like doing (“like I like”, wow…I sound like a Valley Girl).  Even though I didn’t do so hot on the exercise front during the week, I made up for it in physical labor over the weekend.  There was plenty of fence building (mostly panel moving), some utility trenching, a bit of cattle wrangling, and some concrete bunk and block moving (which showed just how out of shape I am).
The very interesting fill-in dietician has spent the last 20 minutes going over making good breakfast and lunch choices.  Blah, blah, blah.  Now she’s moved on to sacrilegious territory: meatless meals.  She suggests Tofu or Boca burgers.  I should stage a listen-out.  “Eating meatless meals are healthy and definitely something to try.”  I have officially lost interest in this chick.  Maybe the other, less monotone dietician was smart to skip this episode.
The plan for this week – besides eating meat with every meal – is to stick to the leftovers, not eat out, and walk.  The weather has really broken (it got down in the upper 40s last night!), so I need to get out and walking.  I need a motivator.  Maybe, no Netflix until I’ve had a 30-minute (or more) walk?  Sound good?  We’ll try that strategy.  I’m still sticking to the McDonalds and QT taquito shunning (and I think I’ll shun until I hit my weight goal, instead of just for the program).  I also need to find a healthier snacking alternative for when I’m driving home to the farm – i.e. I need to find a replacement for said taquitos.

Weigh To Go: Week 5 Revelation

So, at the beginning of each month, I go through and pay off my credit card balances.  I have a regular MasterCard and a QT credit card.  Now, I knew the “Dining” to “Groceries” ration was going to be way off for the month of August, but what I didn’t expect to see was the amount spent at QT.
Now we all know that gas prices are astronomical – thanks to the wadded panties of speculators and, no doubt, one B. Hussein Obama.  So seeing that I had spent over $300 on gas last month was not a surprise.  However, seeing that I had spent almost $65 inside, was kind of a jaw-dropper.  I had 14 charges to the card for inside, which means a very unhealthy amount of that was in taquitos.  Now, all summer QT had $0.59 32-ounce drinks, so that was a fiscally responsible motivation – besides that whole “pop is bad for you myth”.  So if you say that I got 14 drinks at $0.59 (plus a ghastly 9.5% sales tax), I probably spent just over $9 on drinks all month.  Not bad.  Then you look at the rest.  That means $56 was spent on taquitos or the like.
So, as of now, I’m swearing off taquitos, at least until the end of the 10-week course.  More likely until I hit my weight-loss goal.  I have no idea how bad they are, but they’re a drain on my already tight wallet, and unlike the illogical ideas of left-wing politicians, I can’t spend more to get out of debt.

Weigh To Go: Weeks 3 and 4 Recap, Week 5 Plan

Yes, it’s true.  I didn’t update this little thing last week.  So for those who were glued to your computer screens waiting for an update, here it is.
The last two weeks haven’t been great, but they haven’t been terrible either.  I only caught the last 20 minutes or so of last week’s webinar, which was over dining out.   Basically, the synopsis of it was that there are a ton of calories, fat, and sodium in fast food meals, as well as meals at popular dine-out restaurants.  Also, there are multiple servings in each meal, so you really should be able to make several meals out of one entrĂ©e.  I knew most of these things, so apparently I didn’t miss much while I was sitting in my monthly department meeting.
As for the last two weeks, eating has been better, but not great.  After the house/dog-sitting venture, I did indeed jump on the cooking bandwagon.  I made some killer chicken/bacon/veggie/bean tacos/tostadas.  Fairly healthy, and I made 8 meals out of it.  I did cave a few times.  Subway (that buffalo chicken sandwich is only $5 until tomorrow), Taco Bell (I worked late one night, and my normal Tuesday spot, plus one Saturday indulgence), and QT taquitos (and loaded potato rollers…mmm…).  There was also a Burger King indulgence in there, but still sticking to the swear-off of McDonalds.  Oh, and there is the fairly routine Sunday morning trip to Sonic for a Coke Zero and Cheddar Bites with ranch.  So, yes, there have been some caves, but I cooked too.  Last week, I cooked up some excellent (and fairly healthy) parmesan crusted tilapia, with spicy wild rice and peach salsa.  Magnifico!  Granted, that culinary victory was followed by a bacon extravaganza in the form of chocolate covered Oreos and peanut butter no-bake cookies covered in the candied delightfulness.  Now, these delicacies were for a Bible Study potluck/barbeque, but I’m pretty sure I sampled an unhealthy portion of them to make sure they were safe for consumption.  I’ve also wiped out my supply of light adult beverages, which I don’t intend to replace any time soon.  I’m attempting to jump start good eating habits.  One step at a time…speaking of which…
Exercise hasn’t been the greatest the past couple weeks.  I have started walking at lunch more often.  It has helped a bit.  However, I haven’t walked in the evenings, except for walking to the mailbox to return my Netflix habit – which is probably better than driving down to the mailbox on my way to work, or just dropping it in the mailbox at work.  It’s probably a little over a ¼ mile round trip, but it’s a good 10 minute walk in the evening, if nothing else.  I didn’t do too much on the weekends, but I did help build some electric fence (a lot of walking) and do some home improvements at the working birthday party this weekend (but mostly I just showed up for the food).
This week is about meal replacement or eating on the go without eating out.  The dietician’s advice is to buy pretzels or peanuts at a convenience store instead of a candy bar or chips.  She also says to pack snacks like cheese sticks, veggies, fruit, or peanut butter sandwiches on whole wheat bread if you’re on the go.  Again, most of these I know, but I don’t adhere to them that well…obviously.  She also is promoting the walk at lunch thing.  Already doing it.
The goal this week is to walk every day at lunch, if only for 10 minutes.  Also, I plan on walking to Bible study Thursday night, if I’m not enveloped at work.  Plus, since this weekend is a three-day weekend, I’m sure Dad’s got a list of physically demanding chores to do while I’m there.  So the exercise front is covered.  On the eating front, I’m going to cook tomorrow night, but I still haven’t decided what yet.  I’m thinking a healthy-ish pizza or something along those lines.  I’ll keep you posted.
I haven’t weighed in for two weeks, but the last time wasn’t pretty.  I’m not exactly on track to hit the -15 pound mark by the end of this 10 week course, but I’m still going to strive for it.  We’ll see.
